Ecuadorian Sees the Initial Banana Purchase with Uncertainty

Today the small and medium banana producers of El Oro accepted the government announcement of buying banana clusters at $3 for those with over demand. They believe this commitment would start working during next week.

Agricultures still don’t know with exactitude how the entire process will be made and how long will it last the payment for the production delivered. Since the decision was accepted immediately it did not have an execution plan. Due to last’s year emergency the Ministry of Agriculture has activated two more collection centers in El Oro. Until yesterday afternoon they have not been notified of their current obligations.

The regime has proposed a 15-day timeframe for the payment of the product, but the producers requested that it should be reduced to 8 days. Meanwhile Omar Aguilar, a banana producer of the Machala province said that for more than three weeks exporters have disrespected the quota hence he can’t make any shipments. Aguilar informed that he sold the banana cluster at $0,40 each. AV
