Ecuadorian Victims Appear on the Tamaulipas Slaughter
Telmo Leonidas Yupa is the second Ecuadorian victim of Tamaulipas (Mexico) slaughter. His corpse was delivered yesterday. Authorities of the National Secretary of Migrants (Senami) reported that more Ecuadorian immigrants are still unidentified.
Lorena Escudero, Migrant Secretary, said “There are still two bodies that could be from two women of Tungurahua, they traveled during that time and we have no news of them. We also need relatives to identify two more victims, we expect they identify them until the end of November, because the corpses might not be recognized after that.”
Pablo Escobar, Coordinator of the Repatriation Unit of the Secretary, added they have off record information regarding five Ecuadorian victims from Tamaulipas slaughter by the Mexican group Los Zetas. However, for the bodies to be repatriated, family members must come forward and identify them. Escobar added that, because of the fear, most people don’t show up and the tests done have been negative.
Margarita Chimboraza, Telmo’s mother was grateful because now she can bury her son. She added that no more Ecuadorians should leave “… There is work here too.” Telmo’s body arrived in a commercial flight and the authorities of Senami are going to take him by land to his home town in Compu, located on Cunchi, province of Chimborazo.
