Electricity subsidy for 100,000 users in August
Last Friday, the Minister of Electricity, Esteban Albornoz, announced that about 100,000 users across the country could benefit from the subsidy to the first 80 kilowatts per hour of energy, this August.
This subsidy corresponding to between USD 6 and USD 8 in the electricity bill, will apply to users in their homes that own working induction cookers and have been previously enrolled in the program promoted by the Government.
This program seeks to replace 3.5 million gas cookers for induction stoves in order to reduce fuel subsidy and the use of new energy produced by hydroelectric plants.
At present, there are two cooker models for sale by the national manufacturer Indurama. The Ecogas-Fibroacero brand has already began producing and in the coming weeks it will have its cookers for sale. Cooker prices will start from USD 156.
