Medios privados rechazan nueva Ley de Comunicación

The mainstream media in the country rejected the new standard. The daily El Universo, El Comercio and Expreso national circulation, agreed that the Act contains rules that threaten freedom of opinion and information.

El Expreso de Guayaquil said the new rule was approved without discussion and debate that two bodies monitored and sanctioned by the media.

He also Guayaquil El Universo, in its editorial today that “The text of the Communications Act contains just adopted regulations, penalties and procedures that clearly restrict the exercise of the right to speak and think freely and, consequently, the of citizens who receive these expressions or opinions, but are incompatible with international legal standards. ”

Meanwhile, the Commerce of Quito, said that Alianza País and its allies held yesterday approved and communication law in an hour, without debate and on the basis of a document with last minute changes and that the Act contains rules that put at risk the freedom to comment and inform.

It is not the first time the state assumes a role as now, and commitment to freedom is a task for all permanent, media reported.
