EU Asks WTO Sanctions for the U.S. due to Boeing Case
Posted On 27 Sep 2012
This morning, the European Union (EU) asked the World Trade Organization (WTO) for permission to impose up to 12 million dollars annually in trade sanctions to the United States, for the “Boeing case”.
The petition was addressed to the Dispute Settlement Body of the WTO, after Washington failed to comply with the requirement of the international organization to withdraw certain public support for U.S. aerospace company Boeing.
The amount of the penalty is based on the estimate of damage done to European industry by unfair competition from U.S. companies, according to community sources.
