During last Sunday afternoon, eight minors escaped the Young Offenders Centre of Riobamba. Police immediately carried out an operation and after an hour of investigations the officers managed to recapture five young runaways. On Monday another teenager surrendered himself.

Police said that one of the fugitives had ballot freedom and was waiting for his family to pick him up. Moreover, the governor of Chimborazo, Hermuy Calle, told Ecuavisa that the centre guides were detained for investigation.

Once again Calle requested the Ministry of Interior to solve the vulnerabilities in the centre.
