Former Assemblymen present ‘amicus curiae’ to the CC
Posted On 15 Sep 2014
Two Former constituent assemblymen submitted amicus curiae (legal arguments from interested third parties on the issue) to the Constitutional Court (CC), which analyzes the route that should be used to make the modifications to the Constitution the ruling party wants.
Mae Montaño presented that document in representation of the CREO assembly block, a political movement to which she now belongs. The group poses a query which must be done because some changes alter the structure of the state.
Alberto Acosta, who was President of the Constituent Assembly, sent a joint letter to the Jurist Ramiro Ávila. They noted that the changes must also be raised through a query or a Constituent; plus two debates in the Assembly and a referendum.
