Fourth Victim Dies due Fire in the Chamber of Commerce Building

This morning a fourth victim died from the fire of last July 2 in the Chamber of Commerce building. Maria Fernanda Cortez worked as an administrative assistant in there.

Maria Fernanda Lucas Cortez, 25 years, is the fourth victim who has died due to the deadly fire that occurred in the Chamber of Commerce Building nineteen days ago in the city of Guayaquil.

According to reports from relatives, the victim remained in intensive care at the clinic San Francisco from the day of the incident and died at 05:00 today.

Cortez was rescued by firefighters, who took her with vital signs, but unconscious. From that evening the doctors struggled out the coma in which she fell, but it was wasted effort.

The fire in the building began around 13:45 of last July 2 and lasted for two hours. A short circuit in the transformer room, underground, would have been the cause, explained the fire department chief, Martin Cucalon. MZ
