Galapagos: 35 years as Natural Heritage of humanity
This week it is recalled in the Galapagos Islands the session of the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (Unesco), which was carried out 35 years ago, and was the Declaration of this jurisdiction as Natural Heritage of humanity.
To celebrate, several activities have been planned, including the radio show El Parque y usted (The Park and you), which will be aimed at students in order to raise awareness for the preservation of this natural paradise that has unique species.
Rosita Leon, Ranger of the Galapagos National Park (GNP), said that next Sunday in San Cristobal and other islands, will be cycle rides, discussions and videos, to point out the importance of this declaration that occurred in the United States at the meeting of the Committee, held from 5 to 8 September of 1978.
