Guayas Medical Association asks that flights from Europe be suspended
Wilson Tenorio, president of the Guayas College of Physicians, urgently asked that flights from Europe be suspended due to the increase in cases on that continent due to the new strain of the coronavirus detected in the United Kingdom.
The request is also made due to the increase in cases sustained in Guayaquil. The city went from having 3.5 to 7.7 deaths per day due to complications from COVID-19 in the last three weeks, according to statistics kept by the Municipality’s Technical Board of Health.
“The ICUs of the hospitals are full, on the brink, what are they waiting for, there is already the rebound in cases,” Tenorio lamented.
He added that with respect to the announcement of the dismissal of health professionals in hospitals such as Teodoro Maldonado, they are already seeking to establish a dialogue so that they can be given their final appointment as they were with professionals from the Los Ceibos hospital, last Monday afternoon. .
The Humanitarian Support Law specifies that all health professionals who work during the health crisis caused by covid19 in hospitals or centers of the Health Network must have a definitive appointment.
“It is absurd that at this moment, when there is a rebound in cases, one wants to leave without professionals who attend to patients,” Tenorio lamented.
The event was attended by Hernán Ulloa, a member of the Council for Citizen Participation, to talk with doctors and prevent the law from being disregarded. (I)
