Guyana Will Become the UNASUR President in November
The Chancellery (located in Quito) reported that the Ecuadorian Government is to hand over the rotating presidency of the South American Nations Union (UNASUR) on November 26th in Georgetown.
An official statement of the Ecuadorian Chancellery said that Ecuador, a country that served as pro tempore President of the Union since August 10th, 2009, will present its work in the Guyanese capital, where a regular meeting among Heads of State and Government of other countries will be held.
The Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino communicated this decision during an UNASUR Foreign Relations Ministers meeting, held in New York in the UN General Assembly.
According to an official statement, Patiño also held meetings with his Guyanese partner, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett to discuss the details of UNASUR pro tempore presidency transfer. (EFE)
