Hair with heart for people with cancer
Thomas Zevallos, 44, decided to let his hair grow to donate it to a girl who had cancer in Coca (Ecuadorian Amazon). Unfortunately, she died before Zevallos might do the donation.
Upon learning of the death of the child, Zevallos went to a hairdresser near the SOLCA Hospital in Quito, to cut it. While waiting to be served he asked one of the workers if his hair would serve to make a wig. He still had to grow it 10 centimeters long, but the women of the hair salon contacted Margarita Bustamante, director of Hair With Heart.
Hair With Heart is a nonprofit organization that helps people who need a wig after losing their hair due to chemotherapy or radiation therapy treatments. In order to access tho assistace, only one thing is needed: the commitment to return the wig when the treatment is over.
