Hispanic adolescents abuse the most of psychotropic in U.S.

Hispanics abusing of drugs
A survey of the national organization The Partnership at Drugfree.org found that this group is using drugs at much higher levels than adolescents of other ethnicities. It is suspected that this alarming situation is attributed to the fact that their parents are more permissive.
“Substance abuse is becoming standardized behavior among Latino youth,” said the organization. This report revealed that 54% of Hispanic teens admitted consuming an illicit drug, compared with 45% of African amerian teens and 36% of Caucasian teens.
They added that this community consumes more marijuana, ecstasy and cocaine than other ethnic groups. There is also the abuse of prescription drugs such as oxycodone or vicodin, which increased significantly among Hispanic adolescents in the past two years.
Sean Clarkin, director of The Partnership program told The Associated Press “if taken improperly or abused them, it quickly become a habit and are very addictive.”
