Honduras Rejoined the OAS
Posted On 01 Jun 2011
The countries of the OAS voted and approved the reinstatement of Honduras to the group after two years of absence. The organization joined the Central American country with 32 votes in favor and one against.
The United States defended today the return of Honduras to the Organization of American States (OAS) saying they will continue working with the Honduran president, Porfirio Lobo, to promote “a greater respect for human rights” in that country.
Ecuador was the only country that voted against the reinstatement of Honduras to the OAS.
