Huaorani representative gave number of the fallen taromenanes

The Vice President of the huaorani nationality, Gilberto Nenquimo, reported that at least eight indugenous of the taromenane tribe would be the casualties of the attack carried out last Friday by the Huaorani.

Yesterday, the third overflight was carried out  in Orellana, to locate the exact whereabouts of the possible massacre, but this time the indigenous delegates were not involved. “The huaorani nationality expresses its concern and dissatisfaction by the way  the investigation it is being handled on the alleged death of a group of taromenanes”, said the President of the huaorani nationality, Yeti Cawetipe.

But they are not the only ones that are dissapointed, the Prosecutor in the case, Raúl Chimarro,  was angry to learn that on the part of the Prosecutor’s Office only two people could go  and that the police wasn’t  not allowed to , because of this, the Ministry decided to let  all of the investigative team to travel.

Meanwhile, according to information published by El Comercio, the two taromenane  girls who after the attack, were take  by the huaorani warriors, were vaccinated at 18:00 on Wednesday, April 3, when officials of the Ministry of health joined the community of Yarentaro in the Aguarico canton.

Vaccination was carried out, because the children were born in a group of isolated individuals, they injected them vaccines against hepatitis B, yellow fever and influenza.

The leadership of the Confederation of indigenous nationalities, urged the State to take more effective measures to protect the isolated peoples, and they warn that their disappearance would be considered genocide.
