In Ecuador, the public administration is managed from Twitter
This past Thursday, María Cristina Rivadeneira presented her resignation from the Ministry of Tourism, using Twitter. Rivadeneira was working as the Subsecretary of Market. But her resignation, via Twitter, just confirms a tendency: social media has reformed how the goverment exercises its power.
The formalisms have been left aside. Why one must bother to wait for the Official Registry to publish decrees, laws or resolutions, if their authors use their virtual accounts to publish the news. The immediacy in which a fact is nwow known makes it impossible for one to wait for a printed daily in order to know the most important decisions for this country. Nowadays, the facts are broadcasted one after another, which leaves the impression that the citizens are better informed than in the past. (I)
