Posted On 30 Oct 2011
On this Sunday at least 12 people were killed after two Kenyan jets bombed the southern Somali town of Jilib. The east African nation’s continues their fight to free Somalia of Islamist al Shabaab insurgents.
In mid-October Kenya transported troops into Somalia to pursuit the rebels. This action was made after a series of kidnappings on Kenyan soil and the regular attacks against their security forces in the border province of North Eastern.
The local elder of Jilib, Mohamud Ali Harbi added, “Twelve civilians died including six children and 52 others were injured after Kenyan jets bombarded an IDP (Internally Displaced People) camp in the town.” (AV)
