Leadership in AP continues depending on Correa according to analysts
After the presentation of post-election balance sheets, Alianza País (AP) insists that was the big winner in the sectional elections. But it became evident that the leadership of the movement and the political project continues depending upon President Rafael Correa.
Thus, uncertainty about the relief to the presidency in 2017 is maintained. This past weekend was evidenced when Correa left open the possibility of a possible re-election.
In order to Jorge Leon, a political analyst, the idea of President re-election is not new. According to Leon, believes that Correa took the electoral period to return the theme in the discussion table.
However, it considers that the constitutional reform that would allow him to stay in power indefinitely could generate a “polarization in the country.”
While for the officialism, the reelection of President is “necessary” because it requires continuity in the works and on changing the country.
