President Lenin Moreno spoke on the night of Monday, January 8, 2018, to the appointment of the Vice President of the Republic, María Alejandra Vicuña, who was inaugurated as Second President by the National Assembly on Saturday, January 6. The Head of State made an order to Vicuña: “Let’s keep working as a team, with unity, openness, dialogue and respect”. In his report, he also addressed the job creation plan and the economic reactivation. “The economy grew by 3.8%, compared to the third quarter of 2016. The economy is improving,” he said. In this regard, he detailed the actions of the Regime to generate employment, which has three components: the Youth contract program aimed at young people from 18 to 26 years of age, in which they will finance 50% of their salary “when they have an indefinite contract”. With this incentive, the Government aims to create 30,000 new youth jobs.
The second point is the My First Job program, which seeks to attract 23,000 young interns to enter the companies. He announced that the firms will obtain incentives for the deduction of the Income Tax advance, “equivalent to the stipend paid during the period of his internship”.
As a last component, he spoke of the new contractual modalities that, according to Moreno, will allow more than 236,000 workers to accede to a formal contract with all the benefits of the law. The President said that the plan “is not about flexibilization or precarization” and assured that the measures seek to recognize and “understand that sectors such as tourism, agriculture, aquaculture, floriculture, livestock, artistic and construction require seasonal jobs in certain times of the year to meet their production goals.” Lenin Moreno also commented on the incident he suffered last Wednesday. He thanked the citizenship for the wishes to recover. “I had a mishap with the right side of my body, when I burned myself with a hot water.” Even though I continued to dispatch, I had to suspend my presence at public events, because I am uncomfortable even with the rubbing of clothes.
That mishap prevented him from attending the possession of Vicuña last Saturday in the National Assembly. Initially it was expected that President Lenin Moreno would attend the solemn ceremony, but at the last moment he had to excuse himself. In the end, Moreno spoke of the actions that the Government will undertake with the mission ‘Less Poverty, more development’ that is part of the Plan ‘All A Life’ and that will be presented on Tuesday January 9 in Pelileo, Tungurahua. Another of the benefits of its management that Moreno also mentioned were the credits and property titles within the Great National Agricultural Minga. He also announced that next Thursday the launch of the Safe Water and Sanitation for All mission will be carried out with 55 municipalities in the country. (I)
