Maritime boundaries between Ecuador and Costa Rica are signed today
It is estimated that at 12:00 today, after a technical process of 30 years, Ecuador and Costa Rica sign the `Agreement on maritime delimitation´.
As reported by the Chancellery, the event will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will start at 11:00 with the presence of Enrique Castillo, Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister and Ricardo Patino, Ecuador’s Foreign Minister. Jorge Glas, Vice President of Ecuador will be present too.
The Foreign Ministry reported that since 1978, the governments of both countries held talks for the agreement `that allows the delimitation of adjacent spaces from the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador and Cocos Island in Costa Rica.´ Thus was sought to define completely the maritime boundary between the two countries.
After the signing of the document, details of the agreement will be announced.
