Market concentration will be charged
The agency for Regulation and Control of Telecommunications (ARCOTEL for its Spanish acronym) published the draft regulations for the implementation of the market concentration tax to promote competition.”
An extract of the document says that private service providers shall pay to the state a percentage of their annual income(…) in terms of market concentration,
established according to the number of subscribers or customers. These values range from 0.5 to 9%. With these payments, distortions in the telecommunications services market will be avoided.
The president of the Association of Telecommunications (ASETEL), says that It is still unclear how the the market concentration will be defined, and stresses that the definition of active user o subscriber should be better developed.”
