Ministry of Education notifies a dissolution

The Ministry of Education initiated the dissolution process of the National Union of Educators (UNE) for the alleged breach of regulations for the operation of the Unified Information System of social and civic organizations.

The notification of this decision was made by Under Secretary of Education of the Metropolitan District of Quito Fernando Yanez, who gave a term of 15 days to the leaders of the organization to submit evidence or proof of failing to comply with the provisions of the regulations, otherwise it may be dissolved at the end of 20 days.

The standard refers to the grounds for dissolution of organizations established in the Regulations of the Unified Information System of Social Organizations.

Luis Villacis, former leader of the union of educators, said that this is a government´s retaliation because its leaders attended the sessions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations; to which he provided information on alleged violations of the rights of education workers in the government of Rafael Correa.
