Moreno makes official the invitation to an anti-corruption front

Posted On 02 Jun 2017

Ecuadornews:

President Lenin Moreno has made official his invitation to 13 citizens to form the “Front of Transparency and Fight against Corruption.”

The list would include Xavier Zabala, Pablo Vanegas, Fabián Corral, Monseñor Fausto Trávez, Pablo Dávila, Rosana Alvarado, María Fernanda Espinosa, Tatiana Hidrovo, Andrés Mideros, Francisco Borja, Carlos Rabascall and Julio César Trujillo.

Days ago, the Anti-Corruption Commission, formed by civilians, issued a statement questioning the proposal of President Lenin Moreno, since he has intended to integrate this Front with people who, for the most part, have served as officials or have been linked to the previous government.

“This front would lack the autonomy to assume an impartial and ethical investigation on the numerous cases of corruption denounced and others that could appear in the future… There could be conflicts of interest for issues that are already part of judicial processes … A few honorable and prestigious people have been used to this end, including our colleague Julio César Trujillo and a representative of the Church,” the statement adds (I).
