New conditions of the labor contract for the Ecuadorian agricultural worker

The Ministry of Labour and the Coordinating Ministry of Production presented the new conditions of the labor contract for agricultural workers, the same that explain they will be able to receive their wages daily, weekly or monthly, as agreed by the parties.
This means that a worker will receive $ 21.41 for the workday and this may not exceed eight hours. To exceed this time, overtime hours must be recognized, which shall be calculated based on the value of the workday.
The employer will be able to summon employees to meet the agricultural activities that are required, and will only pay for the worked and completed period without generating additional procedures for settlement.
Eduardo Ledesma, representative of the Association of Banana Exporters
of Ecuador (AEBE) considers this type of work contract “is a relief and a solution for most of agricultural activities in the country.”
