New political map of Guayas

On Wednesday 14, a total of 333 authorities in the province, among mayors, councillors and members of parish committees will assume a new mandate of five years, until 2019. In that context, most representatives are from PAIS, a movement that strengthened its influence in 14 of the 25 cantons, in hand with the Democratic Centre movement.
The Social Cristian party (PSC) retained the control of Guayaquil, with its Mayor Jaime Nebot in the lead, but lost Duran, one of the three neighbouringcantons whith which he kept his speech of the Great Guayaquil. Samborondón and Daule remain socialcristians, with José Yúnez and Pedro Salazar, respectively.
The movement of Jimmy Jairala, which not only served as a platform to win his Prefect re-election but accomplished to support some mayors who were not previously in this group and were re-elected.
The surprise was given yesterday, when Lenin Valley, elected Mayor of `El Empalme´ canton, who arrived under the auspices of the Socialista Frente Amplio party, chose to return to his natal political movement, precisely five days prior to his possession as Mayor.
Likewise, three women of PAIS will assume the administration of their cantons on May 14. The Milagro, General Villamil and Durán, municipalities will be in charge of Denisse Robles, Miriam Lucas and Alexandra Arce, respectively.
