Northern Ireland Faces Water Shortage
The low temperatures of Northern Ireland has left hundreds of homes without water many of which face restrictions for more than a week since the shortage started. Over 450 homes have no water, informed the Northern Ireland Water Company. Meanwhile the normal water is still restricted in some parts of the Republic of Ireland. The government urges the civilians to ration their water supplies. In Dublin, it is expected that the shortage last for 12 more days.
Tonight, over 40 thousand homes would suffer from the water shortage as well, the restrictions would continue for several days, informed the company. This shortage occurs because of the quick melting due to the low temperatures registered during December, this caused the explosion of several pipes. The Northern Ireland Water Company informed that many pipes broke when the temperatures went below from 16º to 10º in a few hours. Government officials, like Padraic White, said that this situation is unacceptable.
