Employees of the seized company Olytrasa, organized by the Association of Farmworkers Takara, asked the Ecuadorian president, Rafael Correa, and the representative of the Management Unit of Public Law, Katia Torres, that intervene in the farm El Carmelo (Takara), Canton Marcelino Mariduena, Guayas.
“We ask you to please send a delegation to investigate what is happening on the farm Takara La Palmera,” said the employees in a letter to Correa on March 18.
Employees refer to the course of dismantling of the Olytrasa extraction plant of crude oil, since October 2012. According to them, the current administration of the seized the company, led by Melvin Azofeifa (as recorded by the Superintendency of Companies), removed parts of the extractor claiming that it was for maintenance, “but this never happened.” Now it only remains a cauldron, rails, and the press oxidized.
Staff members are also interested in acquiring part of the property, through the Land Plan. Which according to what the president offered it would deliver 30% of the seized assets to the workers.
