Oxy case became politicized, according to former minister

Former Minister Mauricio Pozo, when commenting on the economic situation of the country, especially the payments the national government has to make in the short term as in the case of the Oxy oil company, said that this process and this problem should have never been presented, since the sale of a shares by a company to another without notification to the Ecuadorian State was politicized, we now have to pay 1,000 million and we have no money.

According to Pozo,  stabilization “little funds” would have served for this and cases like the appreciation of the dollar, and other contingencies.

According to the former official, the Central Government shall be more creative to meet obligations to come as Oxy, $ 650 million in global bonds, the December workers bonuses, “I do not see much room for creativity … I do not see many alternatives to raise funds,” he said.
