Patino Denies Paraguay’s Accusations
This Friday members of the Ecuadorian diplomacy rejected the accusations formulated by the recently named minister of Defense, Maria Liz Garcia, who claimed that Ecuadorian embassy in Paraguay and the Venezuelan foreign minister, Nicolas Maduro, met with members of the Armed Forces in Paraguay to foment an insurrection and protect the destitute president Fernando Lugo.
Ricardo Patino, the Ecuadorian foreign minister, said through his twitter account that he “never” met with Paraguayan authorities to talk about the political crisis in the country.
Meanwhile the Ecuadorian ambassador in Paraguay, Julio Prado, also made a call to the Paraguayan authorities to clarify these accusations. Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan foreign minister limited his statement to state that the Venezuelan government does not recognize the new president of Paraguay, Federico Franco. (AV)
