Pólit, under the scrutiny of the Legislature and the Prosecutor’s Office

Under the magnifying glass of two fronts. Comptroller Carlos Pólit, reelected this year by the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control, is under the scrutiny of the Legislature and the Attorney General’s Office. The ruling party block seeks his political prosecution as well as the Prosecutor’s office.

Legislature President Jose Serrano announced on his official Twitter account that he summoned his group for a single approach: to call the state Comptroller General to trial. That meeting will be held tomorrow. A previous and reserved meeting with the presidents of the commissions and official coordinators was scheduled to be held yesterday, after 18:00.

If the request is realized, Pólit would become the first official to be called to trial in the 10 years of the current regime. He is one of those investigated in the case of alleged bribes given by the Odebrecht company. His house was raided last Friday, although his participation in the case is not yet precise (I).
