Pope urges to end the violence in Syria

Yesterday the Pope Benedict XVI urged the Syrian belligerents to “end the bloodshed” in order to provide assistance to those in need and achieve “a political solution“. The Pope made his request during the traditional Christmas blessing.
“Once again I call for an end to the bloodshed, to provide aid to refugees and displaced people, and through dialogue to reach a political solution to the conflict,” said the representative of Catholicism.
The Gulf monarchies, said they were “deeply saddened” by the violence that has caused the deaths of 44.000 people in Syria for the past 21 months.
