Popular Economy Act gives municipalities one year term to legalize settlements

The president of the National Assembly, Gabriela Rivadeneira, convened a meeting tomorrow to discuss the first reading of the draft Reform Law to the Organic Law of Popular Economy and Solidarity.
The proposal is contained in 160 sections, 11 general provisions 19 transitional provisions, four reformatory, a derogatory and a final.
The new proposal clarifies and unifies various scattered rules and determines the actors within the popular and solidarity economy.
The commissioners introduced an amendment to the Organic Code of Territorial Organization, Autonomy and Decentralization (COOTAD) to legalize housing cooperatives.
