Protest against relocation of 16 teachers of the Montufar school

The decision to relocate 16 teachers of the Juan Pio Montufar School, in southern Quito, to other educational institution, triggered, yesterday morning, a violent protest carried out by students of this school. Six injured police officers (with minor multiple injuries), four students detained, dozens of broken glass in La Mexicothe neighborhood was the result of the protest.
The transit blockade of a stretch of the Napo Avenue, one of the main arteries of southern Quito, came after 07:30. More than one hundred students took to the streets to claim against what they qualify as an “arbitrary relocation” of teachers who, they said, have been part of the history of the school, in some cases, for more than 20 years.
