Purchase of the Dhruv helicopter was an unlucky fact
Former Vice President Blasco Penaherrera Padilla; former socialist deputy Victor Granda; and former Assemblyman Fausto Cobo talk about the case of the Dhruv helicopters.
Fausto Cobo, a former member of the Patriotic Society Party and now part of the collective Compromiso Ecuador ensures that the names of those who made up these bodies are clearly identified in the criminal complaint filed in 2009 by the prosecution, for the alleged irregularities in the purchase of the seven helicopters to the Indian company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The Social Christian party member Blasco Peñaherrera and socialist Victor Granda consider essential that the responsibilities are established in this case because there has been heavy damage to the country.
Both disagree with the statement of President Rafael Correa, who said that there was no economic impact for the state because the money recovered from the accidents of four Dhruv helicopters covers $ 45 million (the cost of the aircrafts).
Victor Granda thinks that the damage is not only qualitative because in the Dhruv case there were human losses by poor quality equipment. In addition, he adds: “we must take into account the damage caused to national defense by the lack of equipment.”
