Rafael Correa toured two parks in Guayaquil
Rafael Correa, President of Ecuador, visited the green areas of Guayaquil, including: the parks Laguna and Samanes, as part of his tuesday agenda.
The first to be visited was Laguna park, located at km 26 on the way to the coast. There he toured thereservoir facilities, used to supply the province of Santa Elena with water and which is administered by the National Water Secretariat (Senagua).
During the tour, he said the park should be repowered for tourism and should be used for sports activities.
“This is a beautiful area, we have a water mirror of 2,000 hectares. Here you can enjoy water sports.We’re Looking how we promote this. We are finding out how to maximize this place. This is an area of great tourism, recreational potential, we are not taking advantage. Guayaquil needs green areas”, Correa said.
During his visit to the park Samanes, he verified the state of the works that make up the second stage and said that due to the advance it will be opened to the public in July.
Correa also highlighted the success it has had in the citizenry: “On Sunday, 16,000 people visited us …This shows the need for recreational spaces”.
