Raul Carrión shall confront 8 more criminal proceedings

The former Minister of Sports, Raul Carrion, is still under investigation for irregularities committed in the construction of sports centers for Carpuela, Tito Navarrete and Sucúa .

Carrión will face eight more processes, besides, there are four processes sentenced by the Attorney´s Office with a penalty of three months in jail. Six of the investigated processes have accusatory opinion and for the remaining two, judges convened Carrión to trial stage .

 Galo Chiriboga, General Attorney, designated the case of Carrion, Patricio Sánchez and Fernando Moreno, as special because three reports of the Comptroller with evidence of criminal liability were accumulated.

 Therefore, he said: ” The other cases are not necessarily because of this crime (embezzlement). There are other facts we will present in each case.”

 According to Erwin Blum, Carrion´s Lawyer, there are unknown inquiries since they have not been notified with its beginning; for this, he said: “We do not know how many processes are left open against Carrion.”
