Rebekah Brooks has been arrested in London

Rebekah Brooks, one of the top executives in Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. empire resigned last Friday, however she was arrested during the Sunday noon by Scotland Yard because of the illegal newsgathering investigation. The 43-year-old woman was placed in custody on charges of conspiring to intercept communications and on corruption allegations.

Brooks headed Murdoch’s News of the World from 2000 to 2003, during this time the paper apparently engaged in widespread phone hacking.

While she was questioned by Scotland Yard officers, Brooks has denied any knowledge of the phone hacking scandal by the company. Her arrest further damages the reputation of News Corp.

Both Murdoch’s, father and son, will appear before the Parliament on Tuesday, were they will be questioned by lawmakers. (AV)
