Red Cross Evacuates Women and Children from Syria
Three ambulances of the Crescent Red Moon group started to evacuate women and children from the neighborhood of Bab Amro in Homs, Syria. The security forces crackdown of the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad is currently facing the attention of the world as many leaders discuss to end the bloodshed.
So far eleven ambulances and other rescue vehicles arrived this Friday into Homs. According to the rebels, the forces of the regime have detained the entrance of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Bab Amro.
Diplomats and members of ICRC managed to convince the rebels that control Bab Amro and the Syrian authorities to respect a temporary ceasefire to allow the evacuation of wounded people. Homs has been shelled for three weeks, they now lack of food and medicines according to the opposition. (AV)
