Related foundation to Podemos recommended to hide Hugo Chavez illness, according to ABC

Posted On 23 Jan 2016

The ABC printed media, of Spain, revealed on Friday that La Fundación Centro de Estudios Políticos y Sociales (CEPS), akin to the Por la Democracia Party (Podemos) recommended to hide the illness of Hugo Chavez.

The foundation worked for the governments of Hugo Chavez from 2002 to 2012 and charged more than four million euros, reports ABC. The political organization “to which Pablo Iglesias, Inigo Errejon, Carolina Bescansa and Luis Alegre belong or have belonged, among others, divided their reports into two sections: situation analysis and recommendations,” the Spanish media reports in its online edition.

In one document, dated July 13, 2011, entitled ‘The forces of MUD before the president’s health: the disunity of the unit,’ Spanish political advisors conducted an analysis on how the opponents of Chavism treated in their political discourse the illness Hugo Chavez was suffering at that time.

In the 18-page report, the CEPS, “that charged four million euros that came from public funds to perpetuate the Chavism,” recommended to the Government of Venezuela to not give clues to the opposition, grouped in the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUDfor its Spanish acronym), states the ABC.

The report comes a month after the intervention of Chavez in Havana, since he was suffering from cancer. “The forces of the Venezuelan opposition have turned their discourse on the health of the president and alleged legal and constitutional aspects dereived from this’, explains the document.

“In this sense it would be desirable that the levels of information on the exact condition of the President continue to be reserved and to limit references that could give ‘clues’ to the opposition, states the recommendation (I)
