Rubalcaba Resigns to Run for the Spanish Presidency
The vice president of the Spanish government and Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba quits the socialist executive to devote himself to exercise his presidential candidacy for the 2012 elections.
“I conveyed to the government my will to leave the government and do it immediately,” announced Perez Rubalcaba through a press conference.
Likewise, he said he took this decision despite the absence of “no legal incompatibility” between its current functions in the executive and his candidacy for presidency and explained that “Tomorrow, before the federal committee, I will take possession” as a presidential candidate.
“It would not be able to devote to the government all the commitment that it requires,” he argued. (BG)
