Saleh Threatens With a Civil War

The president of Yemen, Ali Abdulah Saleh rejected the transition treaty and threatens with a civil war. Meanwhile the mediator of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the USA ambassador were present during the demonstrations.

A demonstrator died and another was injured when supporters from the regime of Saleh. The Yemeni leader warned the opposition with a “civil war,” the threat was made due to the conditions of the transition treaty for an emergency exit. The document was made by the GCC and it foresees the resignation of Saleh in a month after three decades of governing Yemen.

Last night, the secretary of the CCG, Abdellatif al-Zayani had to escape from Sana without the signature of Saleh after hundreds of the regime supporters surrounded the UAE Embassy wielding knives and daggers. The treaty was elaborated with the help of the United States and the European Union. The purpose of such document is the resignation of Saleh and the reconciliation of the government and the opposition.
