Smuggling will be measured with a new system
Posted On 09 Jun 2015
At the end of 2014 the World Customs Organization (WCO), chose the SENAE to start the pilot of a new system that will clarify the figures of smuggling from a comparative data crossing from customs offices of the countries with which the SENAE of Ecuador maintains bilateral trade.
The new methodology will allow to break down exports and imports, so that if from a second country a given amount of goods came formally to of Ecuador, these values should be reflected locally as imports, except certain adjustments.
Last year, the National Customs Service, seized in 2014 a total of $ 32.81 million in smuggled goods.
