Solar Storm Assails Earth Today
Space weather experts are watching constantly for any sign of a solar storm that was expected to reach Earth today, (July 14). The solar storm started from a massive solar flare reported last Thursday (July 12), this event included a powerful eruption on the sun, known as a coronal mass ejection.
The eruption sent a wave filled with solar plasma toward Earth, which according to forecasts by NASA and NOAA-run Space Weather Prediction Center in Colorado, was supposed to reach our planet today. It was recently informed that the CME would arrive to Earth around 5 am and 9 am.
The Space Weather Prediction Center stated that the CME has not yet arrived. However the forerunner solar wind protons continue to display a steady increase, showed that the CME is on the way, the wait continues for it to impact the Earth’s magnetic field. Officials said it could be in the next few hours. (AV)
