“Stand up, Move Often”
Between 2003 and 2006, experts from the University of Queensland, Australia analyzed 4,757 people between 20 years or older, who participated in the U.S National Survey of Health and Nutrition Examination. The results were that individuals who spend long periods seated without standing up, even those who had made a routine of moderate to vigorous exercise, had a larger waist, lower levels of good cholesterol (HDL), more C reactive protein (an important marker of inflammation in the body) and more triglycerides (fats) in the blood.
People who spend seated the most part of the day are more likely to have more waist, especially white people; stand up from the desk or couch regularly, walk up the stairs or move a little, even only a minute, may be beneficial to the heart and to the waist health, this can reduce waist circumference and reduce the bad cholesterol levels.
