Supercom will verify circulation of print media since August
Since August the Superintendency of Communication (Supercom for its Spanish acronym) will start checking the publication´s number of copies in circulation of public and private print media of Ecuador.
The Article 90 of the current Communications Law explains that the press “has the obligation to include in each publication a space to specify the number of copies put into circulation.”
The Regulation of Information Council approved last April a regulation which disposes the media to also show the frequency of circulation, the copy and the edition. “
The Supercom will begin the verification process next August 19, according to a release. If it is proved “falsity,” the media should apologize on their website and on the front page of its editions for a period of one to seven days in a row.
