Tababela Airport in Quito started its operations today
From this morning, operations in the new airport of Tababela began to function normally. The first flights will have as international destinations Miami, Atlanta, Bogotá and Buenos Aires, and domestic ones Loja, Guayaquil, Manta and Santa Rosa.
Several restaurants opened their doors at 05:00 to begin operations on the first operation day of the new airport in the capital. Since before 06:00, the inaugurated airport users were waiting for their flights.
After 09:00 activities were officially launched at the airport that has the longest landing lane in Latin America.
An arc of water greeted the Airbus A319 HC-CGT from Tame, flight 302 from Guayaquil, with 129 passengers, landing at the new international airport Mariscal Sucre of Tababela.
The day before, the president, Rafael Correa, and the mayor of Quito, Augusto Barrera, presided the opening ceremony. Both, in their speech, emphasized the importance of the work and attributed themselves, politically, the leading role in its implementation.
