Taisha demands its highway; the Government denounces attack on soldiers

Posted On 23 Jan 2016

The Shuar and Achuar indigenous communities are alert in the Macuma parish, in the Taisha county, in Morona Santiago. They want to avoid the entry of military and police agents, since they would attempt again to seize the road equipment working at the Taisha highway, as happened last Thursday (January 21).

The Ministry of Environment yesterday issued a statement about it, to make a call for dialogue to the population of the area and regretted that the Prefecture continues the works “outside the law.” It condemned the “attacks” on staff of the police and the Provincial Directorate of Environment while serving a warrant.
