To regulate the work of international NGOs in the country, the Ecuadorian government will request embassies and consulates abroad information about their “legality, reliability and seriousness.”
The Technical Secretariat for International Cooperation (SETECI) issued last October new instructions for the signing of agreements with these organizations and, among the regulations it was established that they must show, for example, a Multi-Year Operational Plan for four years and the payroll of the personnel, in addition to their profile, experience, position and time they will stay in Ecuador.
To develop their activities they shall make an appointment with SETECI to receive advise on the procedure to follow.
