Teenager Learns to be a Mother Amid Trials
Esperanza, the mother of a 14-year-old teenager that is learning to be a mother, faces a judicial battle for the child support of his grandson. Over a year ago, she denounced Jorge Heriberto Glas Viejo as the alleged rapist of her daughter.
According to the testimonies that the teenager gave to the authorities, he forced her to leave the school Hans Christian Andersen in order to go to the Mansion motel where she was abused sexually. from this acts the schoolgirl got pregnant and gave birth to a boy that currently has seventh-months old.
“I never though he could do something like this. I helped raise his daughters,” stated Esperanza, who has worked in the bar of the school for more than 15 years since he was the owner of it. “He always said she was like another daughter… I got confident,” said Esperanza with indignation.
The teen-mother lives in a house in the northeast of Guayaquil, paying a rent of $30 a month. She nervously bites her nails, breast feeds his seven-month son, and plays with him. Sometimes it seems as if she is playing with a doll.
The teenager gave her testimony to the prosecutors office she said to the district attorney Victor Leon Tenorio, “He told me that if I didn’t do what he wanted, he would hurt my mother with a gun he had.”
Glas Viejo, 71 years-old, appeared before the Judicial Police, but he was not detained and denied all the accusations, shortly after he vanished. So far the case of Esperanza’s daughter had several complications. The trial took a different turn when the son of Glas Viejo, the Minister Coordinator of Strategic Sectors, Jorge Glas Espinel would have to pay for the supposed abuse of his father. Judge Martha Guerrero set a provisional pension of $79,42. AV
