TEPCO Releases Images of Tsunami in Fukushima

Posted On 19 May 2011

The Tokyo Electric Company (TEPCO) revealed a series of dramatic photos that show how the tidal wave of March 11 hit the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. The pictures show a colossal surge of water breaching the seawall that protected the plant.

The tsunami was produced by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake that struck Japan’s northeast coast. The wave inundated some of the plant’s buildings, leaving several vehicles floating in the water.
